LaserCon MultiROM

The LaserCon MultiROM is a direct replacement for the original ROM board used in Dragon's Lair and Space Ace.

With the MultiROM card, you can easily change the gameplay firmware for Dragon's Lair and Space Ace directly from the control panel at start-up.

You can have both Space Ace and Dragon's Lair in one machine! Simply change the disc, and you're playing the other game!

ROMs (read only memory) contain the game control firmware. It's these ROMs that control the way a game is played and sets the timing for all of the moves. During production, Dragon's Lair went through 9 known factory versions (2 pre-production and 7 release). More recently, 2 additional versions (known as "Dragon's Lair Enhancement*") were created by fans of the game. For Space Ace, there are 3 factory versions and 1 "Enhancement*".

Naturally, fans of the games want to experience other versions of the firmware. But that's not easy. ROMs require specialized equipment to program them. You must physically extract the existing ROMs from the circuit board and re-install the new ones. Also, if your machine used the Pioneer LD-V1000 player, none of the earlier ROM versions would work.

Once you install the LaserCon MultiROM, all of these ROM-sets are available, and all of the earlier ROM-sets have been corrected to work with witchever player you are using. At boot-up, simply select your desired version via the joystick. Your selection is displayed on the scoreboard (and if you have a LaserCon LDP Converter installed, the selection is also displayed on-screen**). If no selection is made, then the last version played will auto start.

And best of all, MultiROM gives you two games in one machine. If you own a Dragon's Lair laserdisc and a Space Ace laserdisc, then switching games is as simple as changing the disc in the player.
